I like to make things up as I go along
I try to not look back but keep moving on.
And how cool it would be to go back in time
And change history.
I’d take the bullet for JFK
I would tell Eve to put the apple back on that tree.
An hour with Lennon, a minute with King
A second with Shakespeare.
If I could talk to Galileo, if I could walk with Joan of Arc
I’d let them know back in the day that all they did was not in vain
The ripples made, now crashing waves
Someday. . . .
If I could talk to Leonardo, if I could sail on Noah’s Arc
If I could travel back in time to be with those who changed my life.
I would give up my seat for Rosa Parks
I would tell Einstein to keep those two atoms apart
And I’d tell Mr. Franklin “thanks for the light”
I’d be in the front row at Beethovan’s 9th.
I’d like to shed some light on the Dark Ages
And solve all the mysteries of history’s pages
Drinks with Bukowski, a smoke with James Dean
A laugh with Belushi.
